Potty Time!

After much talk and deliberation, we decided it was time for Keira to officially start potty training!!! She had been using the big girl potty for quite some time now to poop. It was usually easier for us to spot the 'poop' look of concentration on her face than the other. So we would rush off and 'practice' using the potty. Well, with Kanaan here there's no reason to wait for the summer - which was going to be my official start time. About two weeks ago now, the whole family went to walmart and bought some Big Girl Underwear!! Keira of course picked out the best of the best.... she is now the proud owner of both Dora & Ariel underwear! And boy does she wear them with pride. The next mission was going to be to get her to use it every time she had to go, not just poop. So I had done some talking around and came up with a sticker chart system. You get so many stickers and then a reward. Needless to say, Keira is so ready to be a big girl the chart worked like a charm....

Our first week...the first two days were a little rocky. She got two stickers, but was back in a diaper by noon that first day b/c we had gone thru 3 pairs of underwear. I said 'we'll just try again tomorrow!' Second day a little better and then by Friday she was totally into it!! I usually ask her about once an hour if she has to go. And even if she says she doesn't we go and practice anyway.

The best underwear ever :) This week we started Monday off with a dry diaper in the morning (we put a diaper on thru the night too). She got up in the morning came down and said I have to go potty. We later had two accidents that day, but she's still doing REALLY GREAT!

SO proud of you Big Girl!! Oh and our first grocery outing was a success too. She went before we left, and when we got home. Nothing to worry about! Now our first car trip may be interesting! Hooray Keira!
